Truckers resume hauling wood to paper mill
The members of North Eastern Pulp Truckers Association have agreed to resume hauling wood to Port Hawkesbury Paper’s Point Tupper pulp and paper mill.
Delivery interruptions began in earnest on Monday, May 6th and continued throughout the entire week.
Claude Bourgeois is the president of the North Eastern Pulp Truckers Association.
“The mill was receiving anywhere from 100-120 loads of wood per day, mostly from our members and from other truckers from as far away as Yarmouth County. Only three loads went into the mill on Monday the 6th, only three went in on Tuesday and only two loads went in on Wednesday. We had figured the mill had about a five day supply of wood left,” Bourgeois told The Oran this week.
