East Coast Musicians Two Person Scramble set for Cabot Links
-by John Gillis
SK Beaton Presents (Wesley Beaton) is extending an invitation to all to participate in the 2013 East Coast Musicians Two Person Golf Scramble.
The event is set for Saturday, October 26th, at Cabot Links in Inverness, and Beaton told The Oran this week that 30 teams are already signed up.
“We can accommodate up to 50 teams, so there’s still time to get involved. It’s based on a first-come, first-registered system,” said Beaton.
Cost for the event is $220 per team, and that includes green fees and the chance to win many fabulous prizes.
Following the event, awards will be given out at the Panorama Bar at Cabot Links.
“We’ll have live music at the Cabot Club House and at the 18th hole, and we’ll have pipers Paul MacNeil and Kenneth MacKenzie leading the tee off,” said Beaton.
Beaton also noted that there will be a chance to win $50,000 on hole 10 for golfers that make a donation to the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital Charitable Foundation.
Free team pictures will be available compliments of Cabot Links.
There will be live music after the event at the Panarama Bar featuring Mike LeLievre of Slowcoaster and Andre Pettipas of The Odd Bit. The Odd Bit will also be performing later that night at The Public House for a CD release party.
Many other prominent and popular Nova Scotia musicians are signed up to participate and may also be bringing instruments to play. So far Beaton confirms he has Rodney MacDonald, Patrick Gillis, Jamie Fontaine, Garrett Beaton, Scotty MacNeil and Ragged Mane also lined up for the event.
The event is open to anyone over the age of 19.
For more information or to register please call Wesley Beaton at 625-2460 or 227-4269 or call Brenda Rankin MacDonald at Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital Charitable Foundation at 258-2236.
Beaton is also excited about another fund-raising event he’s helping to organize in Guysborough for Chedabucto Place Theatre on Saturday, September 21st.
That event will see funds raised go towards extra-cirricular activities for the school program and will include a lob ball game and a concert featuring four bands – Alert the Medic, Ragged Man, The Odd Bit and The Favaro Family.
